Theological forum
The John Owen Centre provides a forum for theological discussion
by sponsoring meetings, lectures and study groups.
A study group to help ministers and others keep abreast of recent developments in theology meets three times each year.
We read a book chosen by the group, a member of the group leading the discussion each time. Books are primarily recently published volumes on theology, biblical studies, ethics, church matters, leadership, preaching - in fact, anything of value and interest to evangelical Christians. Notes are taken of each discussion and circulated.
Recent meetings for example have studied 'The Glory of the Atonement', 'Jonathan Edwards on Hell', 'Who Rules the Church' and 'Christ our Righteousness'. We do not necessarily agree with the books we read but the critique is carried on within a clear Reformed framework. Healthy discussion is a feature of the meetings and we never come away without having learned something!
We meet at 11.00am and continue till about 3.00pm with a break for a packed lunch
If you would like to come - and remember you do not have to be in church leadership to be eligible - just email the John Owen Centre and we will let you have details of the next meeting.

From the biblical foundations of gospel preaching through a historical review of pastoral ministry to a look at ministry in the context of contemporary society, the contributors to this book evaluate the work of gospel ministry, explore in detail the roles of pastor, teacher and evangelist, and conclude with an examination of ministerial training.
