Study Breaks
The JOC is able to offer accommodation and mentoring for pastors who are on study leave. A study break package will be tailor-made for each individual depending on the time available to him and the topic to be studied.
A two week package might look like this: Prior to coming you would explore your ideas for a study topic with Dr Garry Williams, Director of the JOC. You might then arrive for lunch on a Monday and would meet with your supervisor (the selection of a supervisor would depend on the topic) to go through a study plan for the next two weeks. Your first week would be spent reading. At the end of that week you would meet again with your supervisor to discuss your progress.
The second week would be spent in further reading and in writing up the fruits of your study - ministers who have engaged in similar study breaks have strongly urged that we require a written project to provide focus and direction for the study break. At the end of the second week you would meet with your supervisor to read and discuss your findings.
The aim would then be that those findings would be shared with the elders of your church or would work their way out in your preaching and teaching ministry.
Please email johnowen@ltslondon.org if you would like to receive a prospectus giving further details of the arrangements for a study break.
